China’s Electric Car Boom and the Decline of Petrol Vehicles
This research highlights the turning point in China’s automotive market as electric vehicles rapidly replaced traditional petrol-powered cars. Internal combustion engine (ICE) car sales peaked in 2017 at around 25 million units and have since declined, while electric vehicle sales have surged — from one in eighteen new cars in 2020 to one in two by 2024. This transition marks a crucial step in decarbonizing transport and reducing oil dependency.

A Century of Progress in Primary Education
This research explores the remarkable global progress in access to primary education over the past century. In 1900, less than one-third of boys and one-fourth of girls were enrolled in school. By 2023, enrollment reached nearly 90% for both genders, closing much of the historical gap. While global parity has been achieved, significant disparities still persist in some regions, highlighting the ongoing need for inclusive education policies.

The Philippines: Building Typhoon Resilience
This study explores how The Philippines has dramatically reduced typhoon-related deaths through decades of preparation and innovation. Once among the world’s most vulnerable nations to tropical storms, the country has transformed its disaster response with advanced forecasting, community-based evacuation systems, and stronger coastal infrastructure.
Data from Our World in Data, EM-DAT, CRED, and UCLouvain (2024) show a sharp decline in storm fatalities since the early 2000s, even during major Category 4 and 5 typhoons such as Haiyan (2013) and Rai (2021).
The Philippines stands as a global example of resilience—proving that with technology, education, and preparedness, human societies can adapt and protect lives against extreme natural hazards.
